This week, May 17 - May 21, 2010 the All Canadian Wine Championship was held in Windsor, Ontario. Annapolis Highland Vineyards wines were entered and won four awards.

N.S. wineries sparkle at national contest

Nova Scotia wineries uncorked 16 medals at the annual All Canadian Wine Championships held recently in Windsor, Ont.
Annapolis Highland Vineyards in Bear River East took gold for its 2009 Pinot Gris and its 2009 White Wedding dessert wine, silver for its 2008 Highland Blue blueberry-grape wine and bronze for its 2009 Geisenheim Riesling.
L’Acadie Vineyards in Gaspereau won silver for its Prestige Brut Sparkling Wine and its 2008 Organic Sparkling Cider and bronze for its 2009 L’Acadie Star.
Blomidon Estate Winery in Canning captured silver for its 2008 Reserve Marechal Foch.
Domaine de Grand Pre in Grand Pre took silver medals for its 2008 Pete Luckett Vineyard Millot and its 2008 Vidal Ice wine and bronzes for its 2008 L’Acadie Blanc, its 2008 Marechal Foch and its 2008 Vintner’s Reserve Castel.
Jost Vineyards in Malagash won gold for its 2009 Valley Roads L’Acadie Muscat, silver for its 2009 Habitant Blanc and bronze for its 2006 Baco Noir.
Karen Enright, who co-owns Annapolis Highland Vineyards with her husband Brendan, was "absolutely thrilled" by the recognition the relatively new winery garnered at the national championship.
"I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw our Pinot Gris won gold," she said in a news release Wednesday.
Annapolis Highland released its first wines in 2009.
The annual competition attracted a record 1,143 wines, submitted by 173 Canadian wineries, most from Ontario and British Columbia.
"This recognition continues to show that our wines are being represented and respected on the national as well as international levels," said Janice Ruddock, managing director of the Winery Association of Nova Scotia.

Annapolis Highland Vineyards Opens |

Annapolis Highland Vineyards officially opened their doors on June 27, 2009. On this day they were proud to announce they had been awarded a Silver Medal for their Pinot Gris in the white vinifera category in the First Annual Atlantic Canadian Wine Competition which was held in Halifax, Nova Scotia that same weekend. Annapolis Highland Vineyards also won a Bronze medal for their DeChaunac in red other category at this same wine competition.

On October 15, 2009, the cruise ship SS Balmoral of the Fred Olsen Cruise Lines made a stop in the town of Digby, Nova Scotia. Annapolis Highland Vineyards was pleased to entertain two bus loads of passengers from the SS Balmoral as their guests at the Vineyards for a few hours. The cruise passengers were given a tour of the vineyards and the winery where the process of turning the grapes into wine was explained. The visitors then participated in a food & wine pairing in the wine store.
